Interreg MANABAS COAST
Flanders Hydraulics (FH) and the General Technical Support Division are joining forces as Flemish partners of the Department of Mobility and Public Works in a cross-border Interreg North Sea project called ‘MANABAS COAST’ (MAinstreaming NAture-BAsed Solutions through COASTal systems).
This partnership involves collaboration with twelve organizations from the North Sea region, including Sweden, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Flanders, and France, under the leadership of Rijkswaterstaat.
ClimASed
Watercourses and estuaries form the link between land and sea. Climate change affects both, with changing discharge patterns of both water and sediment due to changing precipitation patterns and possible land use on the one hand, and sea level rise on the other. With ClimASed, we are looking for climate-robust and sustainable solutions for sediment management within our river basins. In this way, we want to better prepare our watercourses for the effects of a changing climate.
BONSAI: Boosting flOod resilieNce in estuarine Systems Anticipating shifting clImate zones
BONSAI is an Interreg North-West Europe project where 17 organisations from four European countries work closely together to make flood defense systems more resilient against climate change.
EU-INTERREG 2 Seas – POLDER2C’s
In the Hedwige-Prosperpolder, on the border between the Netherlands and Flanders, a new ring dyke is being constructed as part of the Sigma Plan. These large-scale infrastructure works offer a unique opportunity for innovation and collaboration in the Living Lab Hedwige-Prosperpolder (LL HPP). Here, dyke strength tests and crisis exercises are carried out, including the deliberate breaching and repair of dykes. STOWA and Flanders Hydraulics (FH) are coordinating these tests and exercises together with various national and international partners, partly supported by the EU-INTERREG 2 Seas project POLDER2C's.
Sundanse
The European Horizon project SUNDANSE focuses on sustainable development and climate resilience in the Danube River Basin. Partners from research, policy and practice collaborate on concrete solutions for water management, ecosystems and communities along the Danube River. Using data, innovative tools and pilot projects, SUNDANSE supports improved decision-making and cooperation. The project contributes to a more resilient Danube region, benefiting nature, the economy and citizens.
